Cassandra-Effects in gentrification processes. Rote Flora: location and disturbing factor in Hamburg’s Schanzenviertel?! Since September 1989, the autonomous cultural center Rote Flora exists in Hamburg’s inner city quarter Schanzenviertel. Emerging from the resistance against a commercial musical project, Rote Flora is Hamburg’s last occupied project after 21 years. But despite the continuous commitment against restructuring and gentrification, the project has become an involuntary motor for upgrading the quarter. Is there thus any good in the bad?
Seit September 1989 existiert das autonome Stadtteilkultur Rote Flora im Hamburger Schanzenviertel. Entstanden aus der Verhinderung eines kommerziellen Musicalprojekts, ist die Rote Flora nach 21 Jahren das letzte besetzte Projekte Hamburgs. Doch trotz beständigen Engagements gegen Umstrukturierung bzw. Gentrification ist das Projekt selbst unfreiwilliger Motor der Aufwertung des Hamburger Schanzenviertels geworden. Gibt es also ein Richtiges im Falschen?
