Gender-Power-Space- urban life from a feminist point of view Questions about the relationship of gender and urban area usually receive little attention in the struggles and discussions about concepts of the city. But they are not less important. Together we want to acquire an theoretical understanding about the functioning of space, power and gender. Then we will refer this theoretical approach to our own experiences of urban quarrels. How does gender (re-)produces itself in space? Where can we identify a structural and where a symbolical dimension? Which impact does the category gender have in relation to urban management, architecture and so called processes of participation? Feminist empowerment to regain urban space concerns us as well: At what time of the day do you move through public space with positive feelings? Why do you sometimes surprisingly change the side of the road? Are there spaces you would like to (re-)gain? What kind of utopia do we have while thinking of 'the city'? How could emancipatory urbanism look like? And what do all these aspects mean for the Right to the City?
